The Donald F. Craib Memorial Scholarship Fund is the gift of Mr. Donald Craib, Jr. ’49, in memory of his father, Donald F. Craib.

The donors to this fund are pleased to be able to support annual scholarships to underrepresented students who have participated in youth character -building organizations, with preference to those who have been involved with the Boys Club of America..

Donald Craib, Jr. is chairman and chief executive officer of the Allstate Insurance Group, a subsidiary of Sears, Roebuck and Co. Under his confident guidance, Allstate’s property liability insurance operations rank second, on the basis of premiums earned, among the nation’s property liability insurers. He plays an extensive and dynamic role in Sears’ continuing emergence in the area of financial services.

Joining the Allstate Insurance Company in 1950, Craib subsequently held positions of group vice president, executive vice president and treasurer and vice chairman. In 1980, he was elected vice chairman-corporate administration for Sears, Roebuck and Co. His efforts were instrumental in Sears’ acquisition of Coldwell Banker and Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc.; these transactions allowed the nation’s largest retail merchant to creatively expand and diversify its range of services.
Awarded his bachelor’s degree in marketing from UCLA, Craib remains deeply loyal to the enduring qualify of the University. One of the four national vice chairman of The UCLA Campaign, he also serves as chairman of the campaign’s corporate and foundation gifts committee. HE coordinated the establishment of the UCLA Graduate School of Management’s endowed Allstate Chair of Insurance and Finance. He serves on the board of trustees for The UCLA Foundation.
