Undocumented AB 540 Graduate Student Award

The Undocumented AB 540 Graduate Student Award is provided by the Division of Graduate Education for undocumented students who also qualify for the AB 540 exemption. Students with DACA status are also eligible to apply, but preference is given to students who only qualify for the AB 540 exemption. Students with non-immigrant visas, U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents are ineligible. Students enrolled in eligible doctoral and master’s programs are welcome to apply.

The current funding period is for the 2024-2025 academic year.

In addition to the General Application and the Supplemental Application, students must request a letter of recommendation from a faculty member. This letter must be signed, on letterhead and address your academic qualifications, community-service activities and/or other relevant information. Please ask your recommender to send the letter to askgrad@grad.ucla.edu with your name and “AB 540 Undocumented Student” in the subject line.

Award
Partial funding available for one or more terms of financial support and/or standard tuition and fees. If your degree program has professional degree supplemental tuition, this funding will not cover that expense.
