UCLA Theta Kappa Phi Alumnae Association Scholarship Fund

The UCLA Theta Kappa Phi Alumnae Association was established to provide undergraduate scholarship support to one or more undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in good standing at UCLA; are active members of the UCLA Theta Kappa Phi Sorority as defined by the Sorority’s Constitution; and have high academic achievements and/or demonstrated outstanding service and commitment to UCLA and/or Asian Pacific Islander communities.

The UCLA Theta Kappa Phi Alumnae Association Scholarship Fund will fund annual scholarship (s), with the scholars named:

  • Dr. Robert S. Kinsman Scholar for Academic Achievement
  • Margaret Ohara Shinohara Scholarship for Leadership and Service

In the future additional scholarships may be awarded based on funding availability and/or additional donations. The amounts and criteria of the scholarship awards will be determined by the Theta Kappa Phi Alumnae Association .

A committee of members of the Theta Kappa Phi Alumnae Association shall select scholarship recipient (s). In the event that the members of the Theta Kappa Phi Alumnae Association are no longer able to make the final selection of the recipient (s), a committee established under the direction of the UCLA Office of Scholarships shall make the selection, based on the criteria stated in the donor’s agreement dated June 10, 2014.

Note: UCLA administers all identity-conscious financial aid and scholarships in compliance with federal, state, and university regulations by using a “pool and match” application process for unrestricted awards, identity-conscious awards, and other restricted awards (major, need, community service, etc.). Identity-conscious awards may include a preference for a student’s race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, color, ethnicity, or national origin. The pooled application process allows students to submit a single “general” application to be considered for multiple scholarships, and are used in determining the source of a recipient’s aid, but NOT their eligibility, receipt, or amount of financial aid.
