Mitchell Family Study Abroad Scholarship
The Mitchell Family Study Abroad Scholarship was established in February 2019 by William E. and Jan Mitchell to support a UCLA undergraduate student who is currently enrolled in a Study Abroad Program approved by UCLA. UCLA Financial Aid Office will partner with the UCLA Study Abroad Program.
It is the donors’ preference that the students meet one or more of the following criteria:
- From Northern California (Strong preference for students who matriculated from Menlo School in Atherton, CA)
- Come from a middle-income household as determined by the UCLA Financial Aid & Scholarships Office.
- Female
- Underrepresented minority
A new student will be awarded a onetime scholarship of $4,000 annually while abroad.
Note: UCLA administers all identity-conscious financial aid and scholarships in compliance with federal, state, and university regulations by using a “pool and match” application process for unrestricted awards, identity-conscious awards, and other restricted awards (major, need, community service, etc.). Identity-conscious awards may include a preference for a student’s race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, color, ethnicity, or national origin. The pooled application process allows students to submit a single “general” application to be considered for multiple scholarships, and are used in determining the source of a recipient’s aid, but NOT their eligibility, receipt, or amount of financial aid.
