Retention and Advocacy Integration for Students Embracing Dismissal (R.A.I.S.E.D.) Scholarship
The Retention and Advocacy Integration for Students Embracing Dismissal (R.A.I.S.E.D.) scholarship was created by two students who advocated for the needs of dismissed students by aiding them in the readmission process. As the university has struggled to meet the needs of students due to dwindling funds by the state, dismissed students have suffered. There has been a lack of attention to the academic, holistic and financial struggles that dismissed students face at UCLA as well as minimal available resources to dismissed students seeking readmission. This scholarship was created to combat the current issues that dismissed students’ face, by encouraging readmitted students to advocate and assist in the retention of currently dismissed students, as well as promote the continual pursuit for higher education and academic success. As a recipient of this scholarship, you will be expected to help advocate for the dismissed community by committing yourself to community service that will be beneficial for current dismissed students. The type of community service will be chosen by the recipient, and must be approved by the R.A.I.S.E.D. committee.
