UCLA LABOR STUDIES DEPT AWARD/ Lucy and Harry Lang Labor Studies Award

The Lucy and Harry Lang Labor Studies Award was established in 2026 to support undergraduate Labor Studies majors and minors in pursuing career and professional development opportunities. Funding purposes include labor-related conference fees and travel, training, research activities, scholarships to study abroad, internships, and applied research-related coursework. Priority will be given to students focusing on professional development opportunities that support working-class communities.

Criteria:
To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a declared Labor Studies major or minor at the time of application with the Registrar
  • Be either a Junior or Senior in good academic standing
  • Have successfully completed Labor Studies 10 and/or Labor Studies 101
  • Provide a short (1-2 paragraph) statement of interest to attend the bootcamp
  • Provide a writing sample (any term paper or other written assignment exceeding 500 words is sufficient)
  • Provide the name of one Labor Studies faculty member who will vouch for their motivation to attend the labor-related opportunity
  • Commit to attending all days of the training, lab, conferences, program, course, internship or summits (no exceptions will be made to this requirement)

Application Deadline: Rolling applications throughout the academic year.
