Junamici Scholarship
Foreign language, Global Studies and International Development Studies majors and minors from low-to-middle-income, California-resident households are eligible to apply for the Junamici Scholarship, established in June 2017 by the Junamici Foundation. Foreign language majors and minors must be under the Division of Humanities and the language must not be one of their native languages. The award covers the recipient’s entire in-state UCLA cost of attendance, as determined by the UCLA Financial Aid and Scholarships office. Qualifying applicants must complete and submit the FAFSA for the coming academic year.
The scholarship is renewable through the recipient’s fourth year at UCLA, assuming good academic standing and compliance with the following additional scholarship requirements:
(1) signing and submitting the Statement of Intent to Register at UCLA,
(2) signing, submitting and abiding by the Junamici Scholarship Contract not to accept any other financial aid for the regular academic year (Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters),
(4) scheduling and attending all required quarterly scholarship appointments with the Executive Director of the Center for Scholarships & Scholar Enrichment, and
(5) completing and uploading annually an updated letter of thanks for the donors.

- Will you be majoring or minoring in a foreign language (that is not your native language) within the Division of Humanities in the UCLA College and/or will you be majoring or minoring in International Development Studies or Global Studies within the UCLA International Institute?
- Please describe at least two personal experiences that shaped your interest in foreign languages, international development and/or global studies. Describe your future goals and how the scholarship would help you achieve them.
- Please upload a current resume that focuses on your experiences and qualifications most relevant to foreign language and/or international studies.
- Please upload an official or unofficial copy of your high school transcript.
- Please write a 100-150 word bio that focuses on your interests in language and/or international studies and includes a brief statement of current career goals.
- Please provide the name and e-mail of an individual who will provide a letter of reference, preferably one that will speak to your interest in foreign languages, international development studies and/or global studies. The recommendation cannot be from a peer or family member. Your recommender will automatically receive a link prompting them to upload the recommendation via the UCLA Scholarship Application system. Inform your recommender there should be no punctuation in the file name other than that automatically added for file extensions such as .pdf, .doc and the like. The system will not accept any upload where the file name has punctuation. It is best to use letters only.
