James C. Basile Endowed Scholarship
The James B. Basile Endowed Scholarship was established in September 1989 to support undergraduate students who graduated from public or private high schools in Ventura County, California, with financial need and academic potential, as determined by the Scholarship Coordinator of the Financial Aid Office, subject to the additional qualifications or criteria set forth hereafter.
To the extent there are such students applying for scholarships from said high schools, the scholarships shall be awarded as follows:
1. Preference will be given to students who graduated from public or private high schools within the boundaries of the cities of Simi Valley or Moorpark, Ventura County, California;
2. At least one-half of the annual scholarships shall be awarded to such students who:
(a) have had one or both parents (natural or adoptive) killed or disabled while actively engaged in law enforcement service or while actively engaged in public service as a fire fighter, or
(b) are physically or visually impaired or otherwise disabled, to the extent there are such applicants; and
3. The annual scholarships shall be given in amounts that maximize the number of student recipients at the discretion of UCLA Financial Aid and Scholarships.
