W. E. B. Du Bois UEC Award
The department will award a Scholarship in the amount of $350 to a graduating senior.
Eligibility Criteria
Recipients of the W.E.B. Du Bois scholarship are selected based on strong academic achievement to date and ability to use a sociological perspective to understand how they have overcome disadvantage. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Have a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Be a currently enrolled sociology major at the time of application
- Be a graduating student at the time of application submission
Application Instructions
In an essay of no more than 500 words (approximately two double-spaced pages), describe how you have used a sociological perspective to analyze your experiences of navigating and overcoming disadvantage. Also explain how the major will help you advance in your anticipated career. Please include a current resume with your application.

Evaluation and Announcement of Winner
A faculty committee will evaluate applications in the weeks following the deadline listed above. The scholarship award winner will be notified by late Spring Quarter.
