Draine Family Foundation Endowed Scholarship

North Hollywood High School graduating seniors with demonstrable financial need and at least a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA (weighted or unweighted) receive preference for the Draine Family Foundation Scholarship, established in 2000 to provide scholarship support to incoming undergraduate students. Eligible applicants will pursue a degree in the UCLA College of Letters and Science (https://admission.ucla.edu/apply/majors#The_College). The scholarship is for one year and is not renewable.

The award carries the following additional scholarship requirements:

(1) signing and submitting the Statement of Intent to Register at UCLA,
(2) completing and uploading annually an updated letter of thanks for the donor and
(3) good academic standing at UCLA during the scholarship year.

  1. Describe two leadership roles you held, whether at North Hollywood High School or in your community. How did those roles contribute to the development of your own leadership style and potential? How do you plan to continue your commitment to both leadership and academic excellence at UCLA?
  2. CV/RESUME: Please provide a CV or Resume.
  3. Please upload an official or unofficial copy of your high school transcript.
  4. Please write a 100-150 word bio in third person that focuses on your leadership and academic experiences and includes a brief statement of current career goals.
  5. Please provide the name and email of an instructor, counselor or administrator who will provide a letter of reference on your behalf. Be sure to obtain permission from your recommender before submitting their name and email address. Your recommender will automatically receive a link prompting them to upload the recommendation via the UCLA Scholarship Application system. Inform your recommender there should be no punctuation in the file name other than that automatically added for file extensions such as .pdf, .doc and the like. The system will not accept any upload where the file name has punctuation. It is best to use letters only.
