The Center for Community Engagement 2026 Summer “Engaging LA” Scholarship

Overview
The “Engaging LA” Scholarship provides $2,000 awards to support UCLA students participating in community-engaged learning. This scholarship is designed to enhance access to experiential education, deepen students’ understanding of community issues, and support civic and professional development while offsetting potential financial barriers to participation.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the award, students must meet all of the following qualifications:
● Be currently enrolled at UCLA and in good academic standing
● Be enrolled in the Summer 2026 course CESC 50XP: Engaging Los Angeles, offered during Summer Session A10 (June 22 – August 28, 2026)
● Be able to commit to volunteering at a community organization for at least 3-4 hours per week throughout the duration of the course

Application Process

The application requires:
● Current enrollment in CESC 50XP: Engaging Los Angeles during Summer Session A10
● Short answers to the following questions: 1. Why are you interested in enrolling in CESC 50XP: Engaging Los Angeles? 2. What community issues are you most interested in exploring through this course? 3. Describe any previous community engagement, volunteer, or service experience (if applicable). 4. How will this scholarship support your ability to participate in this course and complete the community engagement requirement?

Awardee Responsibilities
Recipients of the scholarship are required to:
● Successfully complete CESC 50XP: Engaging Los Angeles during Summer Session A10 (June 22 – August 28, 2026)
○ Complete a minimum of 3–4 hours per week of community engagement with an approved organization throughout the course
● Submit a short reflection at the end of the course describing how the experience contributed to your academic, personal, and/or professional growth
● Participate in Center for Community Engagement events or programs, if invited, to share your experience
Submitted materials may be used as testimonials to support future program funding.
