Dr Henry H Chan First Generation Endowed Scholarship

First generation students with demonstrable financial need, as determined by the UCLA Financial Aid and Scholarships office, receive preference for the Dr. Henry H. Chan Endowed Scholarship, which was established in 2022 to support full-time UCLA undergraduates. The scholarship is for one year and is not renewable.

The award carries the following additional scholarship requirements:

(1) signing and submitting the Statement of Intent to Register at UCLA,
(2) completing and uploading annually an updated letter of thanks for the donor and
(3) good academic standing at UCLA during the scholarship year.

  1. First Generation College Student Status
    • Are you a first generation college student?
    • Please briefly explain why you qualify as a first-generation college student.
  2. What are your current academic activities, plans and goals? How would this scholarship help you academically?
  3. Please upload a current resume that focuses on your key academic, leadership and community service experiences.
  4. Please upload an official or unofficial copy of your high school transcript.
  5. Please write a 150-word bio in third person that summarizes your key academic interests and experiences and includes a brief statement of your intended major/minor and current career goals.

Your recommender will automatically receive a link prompting them to upload the recommendation via the UCLA Scholarship Application system. Inform your recommender there should be no punctuation in the file name other than that automatically added for file extensions such as .pdf, .doc and the like. The system will not accept any upload where the file name has punctuation. It is best to use letters only.
