Sociology Honors Awards

The Sociology Honors Awards were established to support students in the Sociology Honors Program with the best honors theses in the current academic year. In 2024-2025, memorial prizes will be sponsored by the following:

Lisa Mederos Memorial Prize for Best Honors Thesis
The department will confer a $500 award in recognition of research excellence demonstrated through an honors thesis. It is named after Lisa Mederos, a talented honors student who died before she could complete her thesis.

Yasmien Abunamous Memorial Prize for Outstanding Honors Thesis
The department will confer a $500 award in recognition of an outstanding honors thesis. It commemorates Yasmien Abunamous, a gifted honors student who passed away a year after graduation.
