UCLA-Edison Transfer Scholarship

The UCLA-Edison Transfer Scholarship was established in 2000 by the Edison International Scholarship Program to support community college transfer students from Southern California who meet the following restrictions.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Must attend a community college located within the Southern California Edison service area OR reside in Southern California Edison service area.
  2. Must qualify for need-based financial aid.
  3. Must be admitted to UCLA and submit a positive statement of intent to register at UCLA.
  4. Must be majoring in one of the following fields: computer science, life science, physical science, mathematics, engineering, or technology.
  5. Must meet the California Alliance for Minority Participation (UCLA’s CAMP program is run through the Undergraduate Research Center) eligibility requirement.
  6. Must be in good academic standing through the duration of the award.

Preference will be given to students who:

  • Are the first in their family to attend college.
  • Are underrepresented minorities.
  • High level of commitment to community service.

Students will be required to perform 10 hours of community service per year through UCLA academic preparation or outreach programs.

Note: UCLA administers all identity-conscious financial aid and scholarships in compliance with federal, state, and university regulations by using a “pool and match” application process for unrestricted awards, identity-conscious awards, and other restricted awards (major, need, community service, etc.). Identity-conscious awards may include a preference for a student’s race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, color, ethnicity, or national origin. The pooled application process allows students to submit a single “general” application to be considered for multiple scholarships, and are used in determining the source of a recipient’s aid, but NOT their eligibility, receipt, or amount of financial aid.
