Michael Ybarra Scholarship

The Michael Ybarra Scholarship was established in 2012 by Bret Israel in memory of his friend the late Michael Ybarra, extreme sports journalist and author of “Washington Gone Crazy: Senator Pat McCarran and the Great American Communist Hunt” (2004).

Michael Ybarra was born in Los Angeles, on September 28, 1966, and received a bachelor’s degree in political science from UCLA and a master’s degree from UCB. The scholarship is to support an undergraduate student with financial need, studying English, Art, or History with interest in studying abroad.
