Carolyn D Smith Award for UCLA Education Majors and Minors
The UCLA College is pleased to offer the Carolyn D Smith Award for UCLA Education Majors and Minors. Applicants must be undergraduate Education majors or minors at UCLA. Preference to seniors and students with financial need, but non-seniors and students who do not qualify for financial aid are also eligible to apply.

- Please upload a current resume and a 150-word bio that focuses on your commitment to education, including a brief statement of current career goals.
- In a 300-word essay, how would you describe your commitment to the field of education and how have you demonstrated that so far? Please discuss any of your current education projects -- for example, research, teaching and/or advocacy. What are your goals as an educator and how do you plan to accomplish them?
- LETTER OF REFERENCE: Please provide the name and email of someone who can speak to your commitment to education or teaching, such as a UCLA or community college instructor, counselor or administrator who will provide a letter of reference on your behalf. Be sure to obtain permission from your recommender before submitting their name and email address. Your recommender will automatically receive a link prompting them to upload the recommendation via the UCLA Scholarship Portal. It is critical that the recommender meet the deadline or the portal will close and your application will be considered incomplete.
