Kelly J. Kolozsi Memorial Scholarship
The Kelly J. Kolozsi Memorial Scholarship was established in 1988 by John and Martita Kolozsi in memory of their son, Kelly J. Kolozsi for needy undergraduate students who have been accepted at any campus of the University of California.
The scholarship will give eligible to entering freshman, transfer, or continuing undergraduate students from Sequoia Union High School District and who demonstrate financial need.
Preference will be given in the following order:
- Students who graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School with a learning disability
- Students who graduated from Sequoia Union High School District with a learning disability
- Any graduate of Menlo-Atherton High School
- Any graduate of Sequoia Union High School District
In 1988, Kelly Kolozsi lost his life at age 24 in a car accident, the victim of a drunken driver. The son of Tita and John Kolozsi, Kelly grew up in Atherton, attended Laurel and Encinal schools and graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School in 1982. A long-range goal of his was to be accepted by the California University system. Despite having a learning disability, Kelly graduated in 1986 from UC Santa Barbara, with a degree in business education. At the time of his death, he had begun a career with Montgomery Securities in San Francisco.
