CAL ISI Workforce Training Stipend

The California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA is launching a three-part program, with support from the state of California, to enhance student engagement with industry partners and address the need for training that aligns with the needs of California’s high-tech employers.

The CNSI workforce development program will have three components:

  1. A fellowship program to provide students hands-on experience with industry partners. Fellowships would also be offered to students to work with early-stage companies resident in Magnify, the UCLA CNSI start-up incubator for advanced technologies located on the Los Angeles campus. Students who are successful in this program may be offered future employment opportunities at the discretion of partner companies.
  2. An industrial capstone experience assigning student research teams to work with corporate partners in a ten-week summer program to contribute to the delivery of a product to market or solving a specific product development challenge. This program may provide a pathway to employment for student participants.
  3. A student training program in the use of advanced, industry-relevant technologies to address a shortfall in hiring options for high-tech companies needing skilled employees in select scientific areas.
